CASHMERE CARE
Hand wash: we recommend to wash your cashmere by hand in cold or lukewarm water using cashmere/wool detergent. Please do not wring.
Machine wash: cashmere can be washed in a washing machine only on delicate, hand-wash or wool setting with cold or a maximum temperature of 25°C water. We recommend using cashmere/wool detergent, placing each cashmere piece in a separate laundry bag and washing like colours together.
With substantial stains we recommend a professional cleaning service.
Drying: after washing please lay your cashmere flat on a towel, roll it loosely and press lightly to remove excess water, unroll and let air-dry flat. Avoid hanging as it can cause unnecessary stretching.
Storing: for longer periods of storage please make sure your cashmere is clean first and then place it in a breathable storage bag, preferably with a moth repellant.
Ironing and pilling: cashmere can be ironed on a low heat setting, place a thin damp cloth between the iron and cashmere to avoid direct contact. If steaming, please keep a distance between the hot surface and the cashmere.
Pilling is normal with cashmere and wool fibres, you may use a cashmere comb to gently remove them. With proper care of cashmere, pilling will lessen over time.
ABOUT CASHMERE
Cashmere comes from the undercoat of Capra Hircus goats, mainly found in Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, where they develop ultra-fine insulating hairs to endure extreme cold. This lightweight fibre is up to eight times warmer than wool. In spring, herders hand-comb the goats to collect the fine fibres before they shed naturally. Due to its limited annual yield—only about 200g per goat compared to 3kg from a sheep—cashmere is rare and expensive.
